Shaping the Future of Her Alma Mater
When Dr. Allison Rossett ’68 arrived at Beaver College as a first-year student, she welcomed the world of possibilities and the many enrichment opportunities on campus. She realized the impact of these transformative experiences immediately after graduation, prompting her to express gratitude for a special time of personal development, contemplation, and focus.
“I give to Beaver—now Arcadia—because it feels good,” said Allison. “I like supporting a campus that has grown and the first-generation college students who are now there. Arcadia is still familiar, in its intimacy, beauty, and seriousness. But it’s also different. There is the emphasis on international programs and experiences, on serving first-generation college students, on the biological sciences, and on making a difference in the community. I like it. It matters.”
Allison continues to devote her time and talents as a member of Arcadia University’s Board of Trustees and vice chair of its Academic Affairs Committee. She generously supports Arcadia in a variety of meaningful ways, including providing donations through her IRA required minimum distribution. Allison named the University as a beneficiary in her estate plan because of its influence throughout her life. With this commitment, she joins Arcadia’s Covenant Society– a prestigious honorary society which recognizes the generous donors who fund charitable planned gifts to the University.
Allison encourages all alumni to consider making a commitment to the University: “If the universe has been good to you, please consider being good to your alma mater.”
Allison is a professor emerita of Educational Technology at San Diego State University and teaches at conferences around the world. She was recently awarded the Golden Disc for Meritorious Service from the Arcadia University Alumni Association in recognition of her outstanding volunteer leadership service.
