Betty Holton Weiss ’60

Ensuring a Brighter Future for Students

Betty Holton Weiss ’60When Elizabeth “Betty” Holton Weiss ’60 reflects on her fondest memories as a student at Beaver College, she recalls lifelong friendships and personalized attention from faculty—an institutional trademark that endures.

These formative experiences inspired Betty to live life to the fullest. After graduation, she taught physical education in Upper Moreland School District, played tennis as a nationally ranked competitor, and coached at Arcadia for 25 years. In 2000 the University dedicated its tennis courts in Betty’s honor for her commitment as an athlete and a coach. Today Betty continues to play tennis, volunteer with the Alumni Association, and attend events at her beloved alma mater.

Betty believes that her Arcadia loyalty is motivated by gratitude for a lifetime of treasured experiences. “After being out of college for 40 years, I thought it was time to give back. It felt very personal to me, that my choice will benefit others,” she says.

Betty decided to make a bequest that will help sustain the University’s endowment—providing support for scholarships for talented and deserving students, opportunities for facility improvements, and funding for academic program development. “It’s one of the many ways that I choose to give. I know that my gift will help Arcadia students.”

With her bequest, Betty is recognized as a donor of the Covenant Society, joining the alumni, families, and friends who have funded charitable life-income agreements to benefit the University, have included Arcadia University in their wills, or have chosen to benefit Arcadia with other planned gifts.

Above all, for Betty, this generous gift resonates with what is most important to her. “It enables me to take care of my family now and to continue giving back to the University in the future,” she explained.

Betty knows that her gift will ensure a bright outlook for generations of students to come.

Betty lives with her husband of 45 years, Morrie, in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. and enjoys spending time with her two daughters and three granddaughters.
