Dr. Norah D. Schultz

Ensuring a Brighter Future for Students

Norah Schultz When Dr. Norah D. Schultz, the former Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, first came to Arcadia, she had no idea of the extent to which the University would influence both her personal and professional life. With a deep sense of gratitude, Norah proudly supports Arcadia University in recognition of her professional growth and in memory of her late husband and Arcadia educator, Dr. Jeff Schultz whose 30+ years of service contributed to the life and soul of Arcadia University.

What do you cherish most about your time at Arcadia? Arcadia will always have a special place in my heart. It is, of course, where I met and had the privilege to work alongside the brilliant Dr. Jeff Schultz—the man who would go on to become my loving husband. In my current position as Professor of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Director of Inclusive Curriculum for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity at San Diego State University, I find that I draw on the amazing work that my Arcadia colleagues and I did to support diversity, social justice, and global education each day.

It is, indeed, the students that I will always cherish most. I continue to connect with so many alumni who remind me that the work that I do matters.

What inspired you to support Arcadia University with a planned gift? I became deeply inspired by President Ajay Nair’s vision for the University. The work that he is doing reflects both my values and Jeff’s values. From Dr. Nair’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) commission to all he has done in the past six months, I am so proud of Arcadia.

As a donor, what impact do you hope your gift will have on the University and its students? Jeff devoted his entire life to equity, so if this goes for scholarships to help a student who can’t afford tuition—that’s great. If my gift supports the kind of programming to which President Nair is committed—that’s great. Right now, everything that Arcadia is doing is deserving of support.
